Duty action

Duty actions are actions in Final Fantasy XIV. Introduced in Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, they become available to players during specific duties.

Duty actions will appear on their own UI element, similar to a hotbar, in duties where they are available. Players with controllers can access duty actions by holding either the Highlight Left Hotbar button ( / / by default), or the Highlight Right Hotbar button ( / / by default), and clicking in the right stick ( / / ). Alternatively players may disable the duty action UI element and place either the Duty Action I or Duty Action II general action in their normal hotbars, which will automatically change to the appropriate action in the required duties. Players may also use the text command /generalaction to perform either duty action command.

Certain duties have different amounts of duty actions. When using a controller in a duty with two duty actions, holding the Highlight Left Hotbar button will highlight the left duty action, equivalent to Duty Action I, while holding the Highlight Right Hotbar will highlight the right duty action, equivalent to Duty Action II. In certain duties players can have up to five duty actions, with only one highlighted at once. In these events, players can cycle through these duty actions by holding the Highlight Left Hotbar button and pressing in the right stick, and activate the highlighted action by holding the Highlight Right Hotbar button and pressing in the right stick.
