Cryshale (クリシェール) is a recurring boss enemy in the Chocobo series. He is the final boss of Chocobo no Fushigina Dungeon where he first debuted. Since then, he has repeated the role of a boss enemy in all his appearances.

    Appearances

    Chocobo no Fushigina Dungeon

Atla and Poulet encounter a chocobo villager, Camilla's Pa, that is posseded by an evil amethyst. This chocobo traps Poulet into a mysterious dungeon that Poulet must traverse. After reaching the deepest parts of the dungeon, Poulet confronts the possessed chocobo and manages to free him from the crystal's possession, but the amethyst then posses Atla and takes his Cryshale form in response to Atla's greedy desires. However, Clair, who had been disguised as a White Mage, saves Atla, which forces Cryshale to fight Poulet. Poulet successfully destroys Cryshale's newly created body.

After Atla and Poulet leave the village, the amethyst lands by the wayside and possesses an inanimate scarecrow.

Cryshale also re-appears as an optional boss in the extra third dungeon at the 100 floor, where he has become far stronger, even more than Shinryu and Omega.

In the third remake of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, Cryshale appears as one of the extra bosses that can be recruited. He appears as a boss in A Treasure Hunter's Memories, in Insatiable Hunger on the 50 floor (first time only) and in Insatiable Hunger (endless) on the 299 floor.

Cryshale appears as the final boss of the game, now as Neo-Cryshale (ネオクリシェール), although erroneously translated in the English version as Necroshell and wrongly associated with Exdeath due to the stages in which he appears in the story mode. As Necroshell, Cryshale takes the form of a young man that uses a default vehicle modelled after his original body in other games.

    Etymology

Cryshale is a shortened form of "Crystal" and "Shale".
