Boxed Phalanx is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII.

Battle
Boxed Phalanx targets the party member with the lowest remaining HP, dealing 533-586 damage and knocking down. If an accompanying Hoplite does not have Protect and Shell, it uses Issue Orders to make all Hoplites use Version Upgrade which bestows several status enhancements on them. If there is only one Hoplite or none left in the battle, it uses Deployment to summon three more.
The party should start in Bully (COM/SAB/SYN) paradigm to bestow Protect on the party and inflict Daze on the Hoplites who always accompany Boxed Phalanx. Without Daze, a lower-level party can use a paradigm with a Sentinel in it (like Mystic Tower (RAV/RAV/SEN)) to mitigate the damage taken. Boxed Phalanx should be staggered with Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) and dispatched with Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV).
Etymology
Phalanx is an ancient Greek expression to signify an organized, dense line of battle. The Phalanx was a battle formation used by Ancient Greek hoplites.
