Airwing (エアウィング, Ea Wingu?) is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is Hope Estheim's signature weapon, and is an Antimatter Manipulation Principle-enhanced boomerang that always returns to Hope after being thrown. The Airwing's model has writing on Cocoon script along the blade. Hope folds the weapon in two along the hinge in the middle to put it away when not using it in battle.
As Hope's signature weapon, the Airwing has also appeared on him in his various appearances even when it has not appeared as a piece of equipment.

Final Fantasy XIII
The Airwing is Hope's default weapon that offers slightly more strength than magic and has the Critical: Shield passive ability, protecting Hope when he is low on health. It is part of the "Low HP: Power Surge" synthesis group. The Airwing can be upgraded into the Skycutter by using an Uraninite on a maxed out Airwing.
However, as Hope is a more magically-geared character and benefits from high magic stat to help his work as a Medic, he may want to swap the Airwing to Hawkeye once the party finds it in he Gapra Whitewood, or another weapon with more magic than strength.
Final Fantasy XIII-2
While Hope is not a playable character, he uses the Airwing to fight once during a cutscene in Yaschas Massif.
Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia
The Airwing (XIII) is is a 4-star based relic weapon belonging to Hope but it can be worn by every character who uses throwing weapons.
When limit broken 3 times it evolves into a 5-star based relic weapon and unlocks the passive ability "INT BRV +55" which adds 55 bravery point to the Initial Bravery Gauge of Hope.
