Adamanchelid is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII. It is the mark of Cie'th Stone Mission 33.

    Mission

    33 - A Parent's Pledge

    Mark: Adamanchelid
Locale: Archylte Steppe - Eastern Tors
    Class: B

I have been charged with putting down a stray adamanchelid that wanders the steppe's eastern tors, no doubt seeking its lost parents.

What kind of monster could perform such a deed? Not a day goes by I don't recall the pain of losing my own child to a rampaging beast. Would I now subject other parents to that fate? No, I forsake my Focus. The cycle of suffering ends here.

    Stats

    Battle

Adamanchelid attacks by stomping five times, then casts Quake. Every other Quake is replaced by Bay. Stomp deals 1,111-1,292 damage (981-1292 for the left foot) to targets on the ground; Quake deals 1,723-1,894 damage; and Bay deals 1,116-1,162 damage, ignores physical resistance, and can inflict Daze (70% for 10 seconds) and Dispel twice (25% and 10%). All attacks hit the entire party; stomp and Quake are earth-elemental.

The party should start in Rapid Growth (SYN/SYN/SYN) paradigm to quickly bestow status enhancements like Protect and Enfrost on the party, then shift to Smart Bomb (SAB/RAV/RAV) or Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) to quickly stagger Adamanchelid. After staggering, the party can use Devastation (COM/COM/SAB) to dispatch it. The Saboteur should know Daze, and the attacks should be synced to ensure Adamanchelid is always dazed afterwards. This way it does not get to attack.

The party should shift to a paradigm with a Sentinel (like Combat Clinic (SEN/MED/MED)) when Quake and Bay are about to be used to reduce their damage. Daze should be removed quickly to avoid taking double damage from the next stomp.

    Other appearances

    Final Fantasy Record Keeper

    FFRK Adamanchelid FFXIII

Adamanchelid appears as a boss in the Record of Eden, Part 3, as well as in selected events. It uses powerful single-target physical blows and group-targeting earth-elemental attacks, Quake being magical and Stomp being physical. When weak Adamanchelid will use Bay, dealing physical damage to the entire party and dispelling their buffs. It is weak to ice, making Snow particularly useful against it due to his ice-elemental Soul Breaks and Record Synergy boosting his stats.

    Etymology

Adamanchelid is a portmanteau of "adamantite" and "chelidae".

Adamantite and similar words including Adamant and Adamantine are used to refer to any especially hard substance, whether composed of diamond, some other gemstone, or some type of metal.

Chelidae is one of the three living families of the Pleurodira, a turtle suborder. They are found across South America and Oceania.
