Friendly neighborhood Mod/info post
Okay, so hmmmm. Thought maybe I should clarify things a bit.
The setting - since this spans more than one game already - is the only part of the whole thing being tricky. It's also the reason I want a few more players before going live. Do we mesh all the worlds together? Or keep them seperate and come up with a way of communicating/traveling between them? It's something to think about and I'm open to suggestions. Like I've said, majority rules.
The next thing: How does all this work?
The community journal - is the place you can post out of character (OOC). This is where you can post plot ideas, chat sessions, mini-stories - anything pertaining to the FF-world/game is welcome here! It's also the place I'll post updates and mod-related stuff, m'kay?
The only thing I ask about chat transcipts/stories/ficlets is that they be placed behind an lj-cut so that we're not flooding friends' pages, okay? Also, if there's spoilers pertaining to the ending of games or slash or anything that needs a warning - please give us one! Danke!
The live journals for your characters are something like your character's own private diary. They are connected (so add the list at the bottom to your characters' friends list if you haven't already) and comments to others' posts are encouraged:)
I'm stealing an idea from the other lj-rpg I'm in. If you're character writes something he/she doesn't want anyone else to read, stick it behind an lj-cut with the text "Private." If there's something you read behind someone elses' Private lj-cut, your character can't read it/know about it. You (the player) can read it, but your character can't, make sense? Any other lj-cuts with any other text are fair game. Bottom line: if you don't want other characters to know what you're writing, throw it behind an "Private" lj-cut.
Second - also pertaining to the character-ljs and cuts and such. If your character is writing... say a letter/email/whatever - you can post that in the character lj. Put it behind a cut and then use this tag: [Character Name] before the letter. The character name in that tag is the character you are addressing and unless otherwise specified, it operates like a "Private" tag to the character named in the tag. Other players can read it, but their characters can't overtly react to it - seeing as they can't see it. Make sense?
Third - (Otherwise known as "Why do we need a AIM screen name?") The chats are where the actual roleplaying interaction between characters happens. There are a few ways of doing this. My personal favorite is writing it out in story format -- >
Simplistic Example:
ZalieSiren > He glanced over at her with a sneer. "What was that?" he growled.
And the character of whoever nameless was being pissy at would reply in kind.
The other kind of chat roleplaying is a little simpler. :::: ** and other such things denote actions. So things would go something like this:
ZalieSiren > ::glances over and sneers:: What was that again? ::growls::
Same results, different format. How you do this is up to you and your chat partner. A lot of interaction can get written in one shot.
::looks pensive, sighs, gets out soapbox::
Oh, and I mentioned this in the info page, but it bares repeating. No Power Playing! You can not, no matter what, take control of another person's character. Seifer will snap at somebody only if I say he will - and in return, I promise not to make your characters do anything you don't want them to do either. If they've done it according to their player - you can respond/mention/bitch about it.
This does not, under any circumstances rule out one character trying to undermine another by lying about them. Hell, none of the character have to get along - so long as the players respect each other. There is a difference. Power-playing mostly happens on AIM and a lot of the times by accident.
Power play example:
ZalieSiren > She lifted her chin and went to slap him, only to find that he was too fast for her and grabbed her wrist.
The above is describing the actions of two seperate characters. If one of those characters isn't yours and the other is that's a big no-no.
::steps down off soap box and glances around nervously::
Uh... sorry about that tangant. I trust you! I really do! No, no really! It's just that... a lot of work goes into the characters - and the development of said characters is what this community/game is designed for. Usurping the power of a player over his/her character gets my hackles up - so I figured I'd put a big DON'T DO THIS! sign up in the beginning to prevent it from happening in the first place.... and in turn, hoping to prevent a big scene that just didn't need to happen.
Not that it will - like I said, I trust you! ^_^
So, um, enough with the soapboxing and the apologizing. Any characters listed on the info page that do not have a strikethrough are up for grabs. Currently, the players are as follows (and I'll try to keep this updated):
ff_badass - Seifer (FFVIII)
voodoo_moogle - Lulu (FFX)
Rikku is also taken and I'll add her soon.
That's all for now I think.
