This tutorial is written in photoshop elements 5
I have done some googling, it should work in photoshop elements 3, 4, 5 and in photoshop cs, cs2, cs3. It's not translatable to photoshop 7 and lower as those versions don't have a photo filter adjustment layer.


1. Layer -> new adjustment layer -> hue/saturation. Change the saturation to +50

2. Layer -> new adjustment layer -> photo filter. Choose this filter:


3. Layer -> new adjustment layer -> levels.

4. Layer -> new adjustment layer -> photo filter. Choose this filter:


5. Add a new layer, fill with color #300000 or something similar and change the blend mode to exclusion.
