National Identity

I am about to start researching for my final degree project and would love some feed back on my chosen topic.
The theme is national identity and I have chosen two artefacts to represent this. The French symbol of Liberty leading the people by Delacroix, and British symbol Britannia. If anyone has any opinions on the subject I would love to hear it.

Later I will be producing some questionaires if anyone has the time to fill one out and help me find some answers it would be very useful.
