Listens: I who have nothing - tom jones

Log;; Serena && Raye

Who: Serena  and Raye
Where: Serena's Porch
Rating: G
Notes: The girls fight, but they have priorities. Friendship is number two one. (cookies are a close second)

Serena tried not to whimper as she pulled at the bandage on her right arm. It was healing, but it was bothersome; the medication wasn’t much help either, she hadn’t eaten in two days. Sighing, the blonde shifted the bag on her shoulder and continued to stare out into the street. She had locked herself out and her parents weren’t home yet, Sammy was with his girlfriend. Airhead.

Raye sighed as she walked down the street, uncomfortably shifting in her school uniform. Amy had practically demanded that she go and apologize for being so hard on the poor blonde, and though the pyro was still upset, she didn't want any more... fuss. With that said, she turned the corner onto Serena's street, shifting her bag onto her shoulder.

To put it simply, Serena already felt like a bad mother. Aside from the fact that she was failing miserably as a leader, she also couldn’t even help Rini at eleven at night when she was crying over nightmares. She eventually fell back to sleep with some coaxing. Serena dropped her face. This was going to be a very long summer.

She spotted the blonde and sighed. Oi, this was going to be difficult. Walking up her front walkway, she stood in front of Serena, hands laced behind her back. "Erm.."

Oh, today kept getting better. “I locked myself out. Spare me your sarcasm.” She picked at the hem of her skirt.

Oh, yes; definitely harder than she thought. "I, uh..."

Serena looked up through her bangs at the uncomfortable girl. “Are you going to sit and keep my company or just stand there?”

The girl sighed, walking over and sitting next to the blonde and putting her chin in her hands, elbows on her knees.

“What’s up?” Serena perked slightly by the priestess’ choice to join her.

"I've, uh.... come to.... apologize," she managed to say. It was not in Raye's nature to apologize, especially to her certain air headed leader.

The statement caught Serena off guard. “For what?” Certainly Raye wasn’t actually sorry for anything.. Oh God, had something happened to Darien? Or to Rini?

The brunette took a deep breath. "For taking things too far."

The blonde relaxed slightly. “I’m sorry I left and made you angry.”

"...It happens, I guess."

Serena’s butt was falling asleep from sitting on the concrete steps, as she tried to shift, her arm brushed her leg and she visibly cringed and immediately regretted it.

"I brought something that might cheer you up," Raye offered, sheepishly.

‘More fire?’ Serena thought sarcastically. Raye’s face said otherwise. “Really?”

"Yeah-huh~" She took her bag off her shoulder and placed it in her lap, opening and taking out a box wrapped in purple cloth with white bunnies on it.

“Raye! Aw, you didn’t have to bring me anything.” She eyed the pretty package as it was handed to her.

"It's not going to explode, airhead. I didn't fill it with explosives; I filled it with cookies," Raye stated, rolling her eyes.

Serena unwrapped it carefully, taking out one of the cookies; Chocolate chip, her absolute favorite. She smiled and put it back in the package. “Thanks Raye.” She leaned over and hugged her friend carefully.

"The least I can do," she said, shrugging. "When does your mom get home?"

“Soon. Hopefully before Rini.” There was that crummy mother guilt again.

"Ah," Raye said, looking at the blonde.

Serena felt her stare and glanced at her out of the corner of her eye. “Can we… do something? Other than train? Us?… We don’t hang out anymore..” she trailed off.

"Uhhh, sure!" she chimed with a small grin. "Want to go into the city and go... shopping or something?"

She smiled brightly. “Kay~ Sounds like fun.” She gave that a second of thought. “As soon as I back in the house… and stuff.”

"You sure you want to wait that long?" Raye asked with a smirk.

The blonde checked her communicator. Rini wasn’t due for another two hours.. Her mom would be home by then. “Want to go now?”

"Well, I wasn't going to sit with you until someone came home," she retorted, sticking her tongue out at Serena.

Serena made a face at her. “Let’s just go, Pyro.” She took some money out of the front pocket of her bag and put it behind the bench along with her cookies. She got to her feet and brushed off her skirt.

"Where to first, Blondie?" Raye asked with a smirk, standing up and slinging her bag back onto her shoulder.

“Summer dresses~” She giggled. “None of mine fit from last summer.”

"Well, maybe I should take those cookies back so you can lose some weight to fit in them~~"

“I’ll keep those cookies,” she smirked, silently hoping she’d actually eat them. “And it’s the length that’s the problem.”

"Well, you were always into very.... skimpy things," Raye teased as they walked toward the city.

“I think you’re confusing me with the other blonde. About this tall, red bow.” She held her hand above her head as she followed the raven-headed girl.
