Premee Mohamed (Edmonton, 1981) es una científica indo-caribeña-canadiense y autora de ficción especulativa.[1][2] Su obra ha ganado el premio Nébula, el premio Mundial de Fantasía, el premio Hugo y el premio Aurora.[3][4]

Trayectoria

Premee Mohamed nació en Edmonton, Alberta.[5] Se graduó en genética molecular en 2002,[1]y también tiene un título en ciencias ambientales.[6]

Inicialmente escribió para sí misma. Beneath the Rising fue escrita entre 2000 y 2002, pero no la envió para su publicación hasta 2016, después de escribir un relato corto que fue aceptado para una antología en 2015.[7] Desde entonces, los cuentos de Mohamed han aparecido en antologías y en revistas como Analog Science Fiction and Fact, Escape Pod, Augur y Nightmare Magazine.[8]

Su relato corto Willing fue nominado en 2017 para el Premio Pushcart.[9] The Annual Migration of Clouds ganó el Premio Aurora 2022 a la mejor novela corta/novela; y fue finalista del Premio Georges Bugnet de Ficción y del Premio Literario Robert Kroetsch de la ciudad de Edmonton.[10] Su novela The Siege of Burning Grass fue preseleccionada para el Premio Ursula K. Le Guin 2024.[11] Tanto El asedio de la hierba ardiente como El carnicero del bosque ganaron premios Aurora en 2025.[12]

También trabaja como administradora de redes sociales y editora asociada para Escape Pod.[9]

Entre 2021 y 2026, la autora recibió numerosos reconocimientos en los géneros de fantasía, terror y ciencia ficción, entre ellos el premio Nébula y el premio Mundial de Fantasía por And What Can We Offer You Tonight, así como premios Aurora en varias categorías para sus obras The Annual Migration of Clouds, At Every Door a Ghost, The Butcher of the Forest y The Siege of Burning Grass. Además, la colección No One Will Come Back for Us ganó el premio Mundial de Fantasía y el Ignyte Award. Su novela corta By Salt, by Sea, by Light of Stars recibió el premio Hugo.[3][4] Sus obras, además, han recibido múltiples nominaciones y puestos de finalista en los premios Hugo, premios Locus y el premio BSFA.
