Visualization

(religion, spiritualism, and occult)

Visualization is the process of mentally picturing a particular person or thing. Bletzer said it is “to deliberately bring into manifestation a desire or need by an exercise of picturing the desire or need in the mind’s eye; one sits and images the end result of the request in mundane form; the picture will eventually become a thought-form strong enough to manifest in the outer world.”

Visualization is often a part of meditation and can be a useful tool in developing mediumship. It is a major part of affirmations, where actions, changes, or possessions are desired. To visualize a change in mental attitude, physical health, or abilities, is the first step to achieving what is desired. Exercises in visualization can include the study of, and concentration upon, an inanimate object followed by continuing to “see” it when the eyes are closed. Eventually it will be possible to not only see the surface of the object that was first apparent but to turn that object in the mind’s eye and to see all angles and aspects of it. Such exercises in visualization can be useful steps toward the development of clairvoyance.
