Protargol
a colloidal silver preparation that contains 7.8–8.3 percent Ag. Protargol is an antiseptic. It is ordinarily used in a 1–3 percent solution as an astringent, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory agent to swab the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract and to wash the urethra and urinary bladder. Protargol is also used in the form of eye drops.
