Metope wide (L:W at widest point 1.14), sharply enlarged above clypeus (near level of antennae in frontal view), with distinct median carina running from fastigium to level of antennae, obsolete ventrad of antennae.
Comparison: As judged by the wide
metope with median carina, narrow coryphe, and squat body, the new genus is closely related to the genera Gamergus Stal, 1859 and Gamergomorphus Melichar, 1906 from southern Africa.

In the early morning of July 31, a ship's carpenter, five crew members and twenty Athenian laborers mounted the walls of the Parthenon and removed the first
metope. The next day they lowered a second.
The excitement aroused can be felt when we read the letter dated September 1812, a month after the event, in which John Foster, a member of the group, wrote: 'Neither in Paris nor in Rome is there such an accomplished frieze, and one that is so long and so beautiful.' (18) The British Museum, which had been so hesitant about acquiring the Elgin Marbles, willingly paid 19,000 [pounds sterling] for the twenty-three surviving slabs and various fragments of the
metope when they were auctioned in Zante in 1814.
