Violent Vira (stylised as VIOLENT VIRA) born August 27 2000 Boise, Idaho) is a Mexican-American singer and songwriter known for her alternative rock and metal music. She has had an interest in music since a young age and pursued pop for 4 years "but didn’t connect to it too much".[1] Her first single, "I Don't Care", was released on September 24, 2021, a track that would bring her further recognition, and her first EP, "Till' Death Was Never Enough", was released on August 4, 2023. After independently releasing singles in 2021–2023, she signed with independent label Mom + Pop Music in 2025 and issued a run of singles including "Saccharine" and "Common Decency".[2][3][4] She performed at the 2025 edition of Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, along with popular artists like Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones and Bring Me the Horizon.[5][6][7]

Independent releases

edit

In September 2021, Violent Vira released her debut single "I Don't Care" to Spotify. Then she came out with a string of singles in 2021 and 2022, including “You Wanted More,” “Luka,” and “God Complex,” which helped her to gain a following.[citation needed]

In August 2023, she released her first EP, "Till’ Death Was Never Enough", which included songs such as “Collar of Truth” and “You’re Not Gone, You’re Just Dead!”, demonstrating her fusion of alternative rock and emo genres.

Signing with Mom + Pop and 2025 singles

edit

In January 2025 Vira's single “Saccharine”, produced by Grammy-winning producer Jennifer Decilveo was released under the independent record label Mom + Pop Music.[8] This was followed by “Burn Me With a Bible” and “Common Decency,” ultimately leading up to her full-length album, Lover Of A Ghost, which released in November 2025.[9]

In 2025 Vira started touring extensively with her "Chasing Ghosts North American Tour," which took her to places such as Houston, Atlanta, and New York, with opening acts including BRAYTON and Ivri, which reportedly drew crowds of almost 1800 people.[10] In the early part of 2026, Vira supported Kim Dracula in their tour to Europe and the UK, playing in places such as Stockholm, Berlin, and London.[11] She also performed at Louder Than Life 2025[5][6][7], Riot Fest 2025[12] and Aftershock Festival 2025.[13]

Reception and metrics

edit

Coverage from independent outlets such as SLR Magazine, PM Studio and I'm Music Magazine has highlighted the shift toward a heavier, alternative metal style on "Saccharine".[3][4][21]

Coverage of her festival appearances has been positive. A review of her set at Aftershock 2025 described her performance as “a sneaky good afternoon set” and praised her “big-time voice with a dynamic range,” noting that her blend of grunge and hard rock evoked “echoes of Flyleaf vocalist Lacey Sturm.”[22]

Phoenix New Times praised her “high‑energy mix of dreamy melodies and guttural screams” during her Chasing Ghosts tour, describing her as a “rising metalcore star” and noting the strong turnout at her shows.[10]

WHIP Radio similarly commended her stage presence, writing that she “turned the Theater of the Living Arts into a giant wave of electrified fans” and emphasizing her growing influence within the alt‑rock and alt‑metal scenes.[23]

Glasse Factory named her their “Artist of the Month,” citing her “fearless approach to music” and her ability to merge grunge, emo, and metal elements into a distinctive sound. The outlet also covered her appearance at Aftershock Festival, noting her rapport with fans and her rising visibility on the festival circuit.[24]

Label and representation

edit

Violent Vira signed to Mom + Pop Music in early 2025; label materials list the artist among a roster that includes MGMT, Tycho and Underscores.[2][25]
