An article to be expanded, commonly referred to as a stub, is an article that has been started but still needs a lot of content added. Both anonymous and registered readers are invited to share their knowledge by editing these stubs. If the result seems satisfactory, the banner can be removed.
For an article to be considered a sufficient stub, it must contain at least 5 elements:
- A properly defined title;
- A sufficient description of the article's content: the article's introduction must be complete;
- A category to classify it within the encyclopedia;
- A portal to link it to other Vikidia articles on the same topic;
- An internal link to another article;
The title change
The title you choose should best identify the subject. It must correspond to the topic being covered and must not be misleading.

The text change
The stub should provide the main information about the topic the article will cover. This text can then serve, for example, as an introduction to the finished article. The introduction should summarize the topic and outline its main points.
The information to be included varies depending on the topic, but generally includes:
- in the context of a city, its geographic location, and perhaps its history (if it is a major city);
- in the context of a notable figure, what they are famous for;
- in the context of a topic related to daily life, what stands out at first glance (functions, appearance, etc.).
Categories change
Categories are used to organize articles in the encyclopedia so they can be easily found. Only the most specific category available for the topic should be selected, and duplicate categories (that link to each other, such as Category:French cuisine and Category:Cuisine by country) should be avoided.

The portal change
A portal allows you to group several articles under a single theme. Unlike a category, contributors are responsible for organizing the articles within portals. Portals are what you see when you click on Pages by theme, available in the main menu.

Internal links change
Internal links are used to connect articles to one another using keywords. They allow readers to navigate through Vikidia's pages by following the links provided in the articles they are currently reading.
Internal links should be chosen for their usefulness, particularly if they are relevant to the topic at hand and help provide further insight. Links to common words should be selected with care, and you must ensure their relevance.
