In 2001, 9/11, the deadliest terrorist attack in history took place when two planes hijacked by Al-Qaeda hit the world trade center and caused 2977 deaths. The attack lead to the War on Terror and in October, NATO invaded Afghanistan to remove the Taliban regime who were harbouring Al-Qaeda.

Two other planes were hijacked, one hit The Pentagon and the other plane crashed in rural Pennsylvania after a passenger revolt.
