The Central Committee is Fatah‘s executive arm. It is currently made up of 18 members in addition to its chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, elected by the General Congress. Candidates must be older than 38 in order to run for the Central Committee.

The current Committee was elected in May 2026 during Fatah’s eighth General Congress.

Others, such as Sabri Saidam, Azzam al-Ahmad and Rawhi Fattouh), failed to win re-election; while veteran Fatah member Abbas Zaki retired.
