new release madness

Some interesting-looking US releases are coming out today and next week:

Feb. 26th:

  • Meet the Feebles
  • Session 9 (special ed.)
  • Requiem for a Dream (unrated special ed.) / Pi (special ed.) 2-disc set ... looks fairly cheap from what I've seen, might be a better deal than buying both if you don't have either one yet. But I guess there is an older version of this set containing the edited version of Requiem ... so some retailers may be confused by that, or not offer both.
March 5th:

  • A.I. - I guess there's gonna be a widescreen release and then a separate pan & scan release?
  • The Evil Dead (Book of the Dead edition)
  • Less Than Zero
  • Mademoiselle
  • The Replacement Killers (special edition)
  • Taps (don't know if this has any extras or if it's just a lame video transfer or something)
  • Sony Pictures Classics 10th Ann. 4-pack #1 (Crouching Tiger, Sweet and Lowdown, The Spanish Prisoner, Pollock)
  • Sony Pictures Classics 10th Ann. 4-pack #2 (Crouching Tiger, All About My Mother, Run Lola Run, Indochine)
From poking around on Netflix, it looks like there's a 1-disc release of Come and See coming out on March 5th ... there's an existing 2-disc version that people seem to whine about because of the annoyance of swapping the discs in the midst of the movie. Hopefully this is an actual new release and not just Netflix being mistaken about how many discs the existing version has. I'm sure people wouldn't be pleased if they Netflixed it and then discovered that the last hour or so of the movie was missing.

I think someone already mentioned the Say Anything special edition disc coming out on the 5th.

Don't necessarily take these as recommendations, just think of them as news. :P
