I'm obsessed with dvds and probably need some sort of counseling.

Apparently MGM's version of widescreen has been to take the fullscreen version and throw some letterboxes on it. If you own any of the DVD's on this list you're entitled to a new DVD or $7.10, provided the settlement is approved by the court.

A couple of years ago I bought "From the Earth to the Moon" from Amazon. This box set was in 4:3 which I assumed was it's native format.

I now see that it's been re-released as a special edition in 16:9.

The question is... what was the originat ratio? Can anyone tell me if the new 16:9 version is just a cropped 4:3 image, or is the 4:3 version a P&S version of the original 16:9 format?

I'd rather ghave the widescreen version if thats the way it was filmed!
