Hey DEV community,
I just created this account. I’ve been reading here for a while, and today I finally decided to share something personal — not to promote a product or a code snippet, but to tell you what it’s like to be a developer… under siege.
My name is [insert your name if you'd like], I’m a father of two children, and I used to be a software engineer — that was over 600 days ago, before the war began.
Since the war started, I’ve lost everything:
🏠My home was destroyed.
đź’Ľ My job was gone.
đź’¸ My family was left without a single source of income.
We are trying to survive — day by day — in one of the harshest environments on earth.
Electricity is rare. Internet is unstable. But I managed to get online today, and it crossed my mind: maybe I can use this platform not just for code, but to tell a real story.
Today in Gaza:
A bag of flour costs $500.
Baby formula and diapers are priced like luxury goods.
We are not living, we are surviving.
Our GoFundMe campaign is the only lifeline we have right now — it helps us buy basic food, medicine, and take care of our children.
I’m not asking for sympathy — I’m asking you to hear us, to understand our reality.
And if you ever doubted someone posting from Gaza, or questioned the story — I completely understand. I’m ready to verify anything you need. I can respond, talk, send proof — whatever helps you feel confident this is real.
We’re not just statistics.
We’re humans.
We’re parents.
And yes — we’re developers too.
Thanks for reading. Every share, every kind word, every small act of empathy — keeps us going.
✌️ From Gaza, with hope.
