the start

i'm starting my "get better at programming" journey with LeetCode.

why LeetCode

i'm choosing LeetCode due to the popular nature of the website. with the mass amount of different topics to challenge myself on, i can (hopefully) tailor what i want to code and learn at that specific time.
having tried (and failed) other coding challenges such as Advent of Code, i'm hopeful this will start me on the right track.

what's the point

all throughout university, i felt that i lacked the confidence to be "good" at coding. all my assignments got the job done, but were not great by any stretch of imagination. there were so many other people who could do these in their sleep, and that it was just easy or even a knack. you either can code well or you can't. my code was often messy and extremely not optimized. you could find me in the back of the library 4 monster energies deep trying to finish some code due in the next 2 hours.
but that is what i want to change.

next steps?

my academic next steps is a masters by research in HCI. so here is what i want to achieve by the end of the summer.

  • create my own website/portfolio
  • complete 30 LeetCode challenges (10 a month, Jul-Sept)
  • start to work on web design/uxd by creating 2 mock homepages for companies.

i want to prove to myself that i am capable in using my degree and reignite a passion that was lost through burnout in university.
