How I Used a Local AI Agent to Find a Hidden Backdoor into Figma

Everyone in B2B sales is looking for an edge. We're all taught to look for the same signals: recent funding rounds, key hires, company size. While useful, this means you're competing with everyone else who read the same playbook.

I've been experimenting with a different approach: building an AI prospecting agent using Python and local LLMs (Ollama) to find signals of active customer pain.

Last week, I tasked my agent to find B2B SaaS companies that were prime prospects for custom AI feature development. One of the initial targets it identified was Figma—obvious, I know. But the agent didn't stop there.

It was programmed to then analyze public forums and community discussions related to its targets. And that's where it found gold.

The "Aha!" Moment

The agent surfaced multiple threads on Figma's own community forums. In these threads, paying customers were discussing Figma's new AI features. The sentiment was clear. They used words like:

  • "Clunky"
  • "Underdelivered"
  • "I was hoping for more"

This is a five-alarm fire for any product team. It's a direct signal from the market that their current solution isn't meeting expectations.

The Strategic Insight

This is no longer a cold lead. It's a strategic entry point. An outreach to Figma's product team isn't a random pitch anymore. It's a consultation.

  • Cold Pitch: "Hey, I sell AI development services..."
  • Warm Consultation: "Hi, I specialize in building AI features. I noticed some user feedback on your forums regarding AI performance and had a few ideas on how you could address the 'clunky' UX..."

The first gets deleted. The second gets a meeting.

This process of deep signal analysis is powerful but time-consuming to do manually. To save other developers and agencies the effort, I've compiled my agent's full findings—including 9 other high-signal SaaS leads with similar, actionable pain points—into a full prospecting report.

If you're selling AI services to SaaS companies, this was built for you.
