Journey
This project was pure joy to build! I wanted to capture the whimsical nature of celebrating a food holiday while still creating a professional, well-designed user experience. The challenge was balancing fun visual elements with readability and functionality.
Development highlights:
- CSS animations for floating donut decorations
- Interactive recipe cards with step-by-step progression
- Local storage for saving favorite donut shops
- Responsive grid layouts for the recipe gallery
- Optimized images and lazy loading for performance
The most enjoyable part was creating the animated donut elements that don't overwhelm the content but add personality to the page. The recipe section uses progressive disclosure to keep information digestible while still being comprehensive.
I learned a lot about food photography presentation in web design and how to make instructional content more engaging through micro-interactions.
Next, I'd love to add a user-generated content section where people can share their own donut creations and a real integration with local business APIs.
This project reminded me that even the silliest celebrations deserve thoughtful design and that web development can bring joy to people's everyday experiences.
