A quick poll for the general public!
What are your experiences with BAKING and how might someone get started if they have zero prior knowledge?
As much or as little information is welcome to be contributed! Assume I am starting from absolutely nothing! Because I am. The last time I tried to use a stove ...let’s just say I wasn’t allowed in the kitchen for a week.
Thank you in advance for your time!

Also, what is this for?

Oh uh. No, reason. Just a passing curiosity!

I would very much like to do so in the future.

If you give it a shot we should compare notes!

[Yeah, he has no clue it's Dipper. He just recognizes that it's a bear constellation.]
i've been baking a lot here
i did it back home but not as much
it's some identity reassuring biz
when i started doing it i stuck to simpler recipes
ones that are hard to screw up

[Fern doesn’t realize that he is the one that gave the poster the idea in the first place! His cover is flawless.]
Would you consider it something relaxing to do?
Also would you happen to have any recommendations? For easy recipes to start with.

A lot of it is just following directions, but if you get really good at it you can guesstimate how much or little of something you put in!

That is all interesting information, thanks. Do you have any recommendations on supplies? What kind of cooking apparatuses should I have to start with?

Baking is actually one of the easier things to do because the recipes are so detailed, and the measurements are more exact.

That’s good to know! I’m a fan of math and chemistry so it seemed up my alley.

Cooking of any kind is half culinary skills and half based on proper measurements.
But keeping you out of the kitchen just won't do! The only way to get better is by making mistakes!
text| un: qifrey
I agree! And what I did in the kitchen wasn’t technically related to cooking, anyway. I deserve another shot!

Salt and sugar look almost identical.

That didn’t even occur to me but, I bet that’s an easy mistake to make with CATASTROPHIC consequences.

Very funny. Look, I know I asked for any information, but I really don’t need “edgy teenager” responses.

If you can manage to find one here, a kitchen scale is really useful for getting things exact. Measuring spoons are also good, but it's sometimes easy to scoop out too much or too little with them. A food processor is really useful for both baking and regular cooking, too.

A cooking scale and a food processor! That’s good to know. I have a whole shopping list now, thanks for the input!

If you have problems with a stove though there are plenty of no-bake recipes that you could try as well though that are pretty good. I could give you a few of those to try too.

Huh, no-bake recipes? Interesting! I’ll take any you’re willing to share!

all you have to do is slice it and stick it in the oven
it's super easy
or eat it raw
but you could get salmonella that way
text || un: wheeler
I’m not above eating raw cookie dough, though. There’s gotta be a way to make it without the whole salmonella problem. Imagine being able to make as much cookie dough as I want...

But one tip? Never look away. Constant vigilance. Your eyes should remain on your baked goods at all times.

I’ll make a note of that! I’ve seen how fast something can uh. Go up in flames in an oven.
