[Video] +1 Almond
[He has a small, if slightly unsettled, smile on his face. The backdrop is the exposed brick of what's apparently his apartment, though that hasn't entirely settled in yet.]
So, I've been here for about a day now and have established that this place definitely isn't a dream. This isn't quite the weirdest thing I've ever seen, but it's pretty close.
[He clears his throat, adjusts his glasses.]
My name is Adam, and I'm an officer at the Galaxy Garrison. This seems like a typical Earth town, but it's all a little bit.. off. I'm guessing there's a few things I ought to know about this place that isn't in the instruction manual?

Gross as fuck... how?

It's like... dead bodies in the reservoir kinda gross.
no subject
... okay, that's. Really gross, actually. That's two letters to the homeowners association.

[The biggest curve ball in the face of curve balls.]
[It felt like his heart stopped when he skimmed the network -- and that voice came on. He's hallucinating. He's got to be. The last time was definitely not real. But last time, the hallucination didn't speak.]
Adam...?
[It's not just the illness going around that makes his throat go dry.]
no subject
And he'd never forget that face. He'd seen it in his dreams for the last two years.
His own voice is a bit hoarse now, and more than a bit hesitant. This had to be another dream. Or another nightmare. Seeing Takashi in a place like this?]
Takashi... ? Is that you?
no subject
[Wow, out of everything he could say, "yeah" is probably not the most eloquent. There had been the vision. The potential future. The stupid tree Lance tried to burn down. But this is...]
[This sucks the words out of his chest.]
You -- Where are you?
[Look, okay, maybe he should not be out and about right now, but some things you can't wait for.]

And she's pretty sure being an alien might spook him, since last she knew, Earth hadn't truly made contact with aliens as of yet. ]
The Galaxy Garrison. My son has spoken of that place.

Video, UN: Runeseeker
Welcome to the nightmare. Perhaps it is a dream. Perhaps not. it is real enough for the moment. Nice to meet you, Adam.
Sadly, I think you might be best to ask a few of the others about suggestions. I am still floundering a little when it comes to living in a city like this.
Re: Video, UN: Runeseeker
Ah, yeah. Thanks. A few other people here have had some useful tips.
no subject
Excellent to hear. I would be leery of the hospital. There's a very large hole in the ground there and it seems whatever horrors we are dealing with right now are within it.
...oh, and please wear a face mask. the three eyed dogs were quite insistent. [She looked almost amused as she said that. Sorry, she found some of the aspects of this place funny.]

And, two, well...something a little more personal that she might not know otherwise, if not from some of the more supernatural aspects of this place. Deerington had given Shiro a glimpse of Altea, and it had also given Allura glimpse of the Earth he knew. And those who were in it.
So there is quite a while as she's looking at her fluid before she decides to respond. And, sure enough, Shiro's own response confirms her suspicions. ]
There are quite a few things that you should know, although I imagine Shiro is already filling you in at this point. Nevertheless, welcome to Deerington, although the phrase "welcome" is largely ceremonial at this point. This town is hardly welcoming.
no subject
You're a friend of Takashi's, then?
no subject
[ Hm. None of the Paladins had mentioned an ongoing war.
"It could always be worse" is a dangerous phrase, though. Deerington has a reputation of doing just that. ]
I am. My name is Allura. It's nice to finally meet you, Adam.
[ There's your friendly alien quota. ]

I mean they're saying this place is a dream but it doesn't make enough sense. Everyone having the same dream at once? Like that's not suspicious.
no subject
Either that or we're all really one person's dream, and whose dream that is could be anyone's guess.
no subject
Maybe the dream of the person who left that letter.
Have people been giving good advice that's not in the book?

Hey, I'm Lance, cadet at the Galaxy Garrison turned awesome defender of the universe, welcome to Deerington. [Finger gun.] You'll wanna watch out for wendigos, werewolves... baaaasically, if it can kill you it's probably around here somewhere waiting for the chance.
[He shrugs, this is just a fact of life, you see.]

Nice to meet you, Lance. Let me guess -- you were in the pilot program?

[He's got a cigarette lit and takes a drag.] Based on what we're told it's some town in Maine, so I'm going to imagine we're supposed to be somewhere on Earth.
Cain. [His name.] Galaxy Garrison? You're involved in a space program of some kind then?
no subject
Earth, maybe. But which year and which version of it are probably still up for debate.
Sort of. By the reactions of most of the people I've met here, I'm in the future for many. The Galaxy Garrison functions as a kind of military force, though it's more exploratory than aggressive. We mostly fund science projects to test ice clusters, that sort of thing.
no subject
I believe it's been mentioned that we're in Maine or something. As for year, I want to say it's an earlier era. The dress and look of people. I also didn't get in trouble for smoking within buildings, which is far less acceptable in a more modern era. [Something he is happy to take advantage of.]
Interesting. I mean that truthfully. I don't know much about space. It wasn't my cup of tea so to speak.
