The Muses are the inspirational Greek goddesses of literature, science, and the arts. They are daughters of Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods, and Mnemosyne, the Titan goddess of memory.

    • There is also a group of psychic superstars operating in contemporary London with the name "the Muses". Their number included Cerys Tweed and Jade Peabody.
    • In the myths of old, the Muses were Calliope (epic poetry), Clio (history), Erato (erotic and lyrical poetry), Euterpe (music), Melpomene (tragedy), Polyhymnia (hymns), Terpsichore (dance), Thalia (comedy) and Urania (astronomy).
