Heat Wave is Mick Rory, a pyromaniac super-villain enemy to the Flash and a founding member of the Rogues. His handheld flamethrower produces enough heat to melt the Flash's boots. At a young age, Mick accidentally set his house on fire and rushed to safety without warning his parents, which led to them being killed. He developed a fascination and obsession with fire and started a criminal career, being the rival and friend of Captain Cold. He has been a member of Project Cadmus, the Secret Society of Super-Villains, the Legion of Doom, and the Legends (in the Arrowverse).
Heat Wave was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, first appearing in The Flash #140 (1963).
