Daniella was born in Trenton, New Jersey to Dora and Adam Justice, Sr. She is the middle of three children, choosing not to be the negotiator between her younger and older siblings. Daniella's mother, Dora, was born in Russia and immigrated to Cuba, meeting Adam Justice, a Cuban African-American man who earned his living selling blood diamonds.

Lucia (the oldest of the three children) is a detective, captain for the NJPD. Lucia and Daniella are both somewhat mocked due to their last name, and seeing as Lucia goes by Captain Justice, the detectives under her give her super hero memorabilia.

Daniella moved to Miami with the intent of becoming a homicide detective and stopping exactly what her father had been doing when he was younger. She and her father don’t get along well, which is why she move to Miami in the first place.

She and Tripp butt heads every now and then, especially when she defies him and does thing things she thinks are right. Daniella met Ryan and Eric at the scene of a drug bust gone bad, immediately becoming irritated with Ryan. The two work well together, but they can’t work in the same room without biting each others heads off.

But they do get along enough to have sex together. When they’re not at work, Ryan and Daniella get along fine. The two broke off their ‘relationship’ when Daniella met Bejamin Busiek.

Daniella usually falls for the geeks, a reason unknown to her. Everyone get’s to call her Danny, but she only lets Ryan call her Ella.
