I’ve lied before and not about Lisa.
I’ve lied to Jack because I wanted to keep him safe, he was our family secret you see and it wasn’t my story to tell. It was his and we lost touch with him years before. It’s easier to build stories when you’re a child about who and what your family is rather than face a reality in which your father is mentally ill.
It was never officially classified despite his being seen by god knows how many doctors and when the money ran out, well then Mam felt it best that the government take him on.
I never saw him after that … until … until the week that the children made the world aware of ancient secrets long hidden.

Rhys Williams was not a happy camper. He was late.
Sodding Ruth and her need to repeat the instructions he already knew from having double checked them when he got in that morning, then his top driver had called in with stomach troubles. More than likely the sodding bastard had went and gorged himself on the next door neighbour’s trial samples of the pies for the local fair that following weekend.
As he came down the road, he saw the kids start to cross the street and took a deep breath, as if it couldn’t get any worse … he had to go and hit the school run.

Gwen was reminded by her PDA that it was her turn to go at lunch and buy for the boys, so as she came down the main street, watching the early morning pedestrians go about their business, she hit the ATM machine to grab a couple extra quid.
She made a mental note for herself to stop by that cute shop on the way back from lunch to pick up that throw for the couch to be hers and Rhys’s housewarming gift. It was masculine with that hint of old Victorian to humour both of the other men in her life.
A slight chuckle escaped her as she thought of her Captain and her archivist. Lord only knew how they had managed to make it this far when both couldn’t even decide on a date for this.
But god bless Tosh’s rift prediction program, Gwen had finally had enough of the not a couple *couple* to pick the date for the both of them. “There sorted!” She announced to the amused twosome on the morning before.
It was as she came to the machine that she heard the mother cajoling her child to come on and for a moment, Gwen wondered if she’d be like that if she was ever a mum.
“Nah, that would be more like Rhys than me.” She chuckled quietly and was about to start punching in her information when she caught the mother in her sights once again.

I wandered because it was easier that way, you didn’t have to focus and it was easier to believe that he was a master tailor, that he was a artist with a gifted eye instead of being scared.
I wonder if that was the reason why I was determined to never have kids, because something deep inside kept telling me that there had to be something, why else would they have chosen him?
I know better now …
Ianto was about to add more to his train of thought when Jack started to yell for him. His lover was many things but once he got on a train of thought, then subtlety was not the Captain’s strong suit.
“Found it, the host’s been taken to the hospital … do you remember the cover story?”
He shut the journal, securing it with the band and began to stand up. “That you’re certifiable and that I found you that way?” Ianto paused and looked at Jack with a straight face. “Oh no, that isn’t it. You mean that we’re the neighbors?”
Before Jack could respond, Ianto had his coat ready for him and pointed to the door where the equipment was waiting. “One of these days Jack, you will remember that I’m not like most men. I do remember what my wife tells me.”
He scooped up their things and left his Captain speechless, his mouth opening and closing twice before he chased after the younger man. “Ianto!”
The Welshman just broke out laughing as they headed to the SUV.
