dear team usa exchange author,
first of all, sorry about all the obscure ships, but i hope you enjoy this adventure! second of all, sorry this letter boils down to "make everyone secretly a virgin." anyway, onto the fun stuff!
things i like: romcom tropes, secret virgins, secret marriages, pining, kissing, babies, soulbonds, breakup-makeup stories, woke up married, fake dating, mistaken for dating, marriages of convenience, spies, meet-cutes, rivals/enemies-to-lovers, everyday magic, sex pollen, found families, friends to lovers, relationship negotiations, making long distance relationships work, angst with a happy ending, happy endings
things i don't like: high school aus, hogwarts aus, college aus that aren't college hockey, most hard kink (unless i specify in ship details!), a/b/o, pregnancy (male or otherwise), tattoos/body modification, really anything that could fall under even the most generous heading of body horror, stories about friendships ending, sad endings and dark storylines in general, infidelity, incest, self-harm, disordered eating, mental illness, suicide, character death
thatcher demko/john hayden
soft, needy california goalie thatcher demko and rich, needy connecticut bro john hayden! my darlings, etc. they're so affectionate! i love the long-distance aspect, especially since they did overlap for a year at the ntdp before they went their separate ways for college.
anyway, what i really want for them is basically ... soft kink with feelings? thatcher has a history of crossdressing, and they've both made jokes about hickeys on instagram. possessiveness, or marking, or something like that would be fun. or consensual jealousy kink, where thatcher flirts with people until john drags him home and fucks him into the mattress. sex pollen would be particuarly delightful for them. or maybe a story where they hook up wth a lot of other people and tell each other about it. or a marriage of convience for [lengthy mumbling] something to do with someone's will and john needing to inherit money.

childhood friends, michigan trash, college teammates, team usa teammates ... anyway, here's a mini-primer, mostly pictures, social media, and some truly incredible quotes. they're both kids from detroit (well, and the detroit suburbs) and dylan's blossomed into a hometown hero with the red wings this season (some articles if you want to read more). zach played a second season at the university of michigan, scored the tournament-winning goal in the big 10 tournament, and then signed with the blue jackets. his first pro goal was an OTGWG.
dylan went to the draft with zach last summer even though he'd already been drafted! zach is really enthusiastic about dylan's career all the time! being able to room with dylan was part of michigan's recruitment pitch to zach!
anyway, in terms of stories, i'd love something that explores the friends-to-lovers angle, but especially throwing in something like secret virgins (my fave!) or soulbonds or woke up married! fake dating would be delightful, or a story where their families think they're dating but they aren't. or a marriage pact fic!

childhood best friends! they met when they were six and played street hockey together in the summers for years! they played together in high school before matt left for the ntdp. here is a great article to read about them. when the bu student paper did an article about matt being captain, they asked jimmy for quotes; read it here.
in terms of stories, i'd love ... really anything, since there's nothing. but a marriage pact would be fun! or soulbonds! or a story about them playing on rival teams in (the) boston (metro area) while still being good friends! matt is secretly a virgin! jimmy is secretly a virgin! (or both!) them making a relationship work next season when jimmy signs ... wherever he signs! [47 eyes emojis] or a breakup-makeup story would be great, because i love it when people are sad and have to really work on their relationships before they can be happy.

so uh, everything i said about matt and jimmy, but with jack also there, being ... himself. anyway, matt likes to call his teammates baby, which frankly i see no reason he shouldn't extend to jack. jack also, iirc, likes to call his teammates pet names. i'm about it. jack and jimmy won a bronze medal together at worlds in 2015, aren't they cute? what i'd love to see here is the process of negotiating a relationship between the three of them. were matt and jimmy dating, and jack flirts with them obnoxious? did jack hook up with each of them separately—matt when he played at bu and jimmy at worlds—and things developed more later? how does jimmy's pending free agency play into it, since people have literally speculated that his friendship with matt will make him more likely to sign with the bruins, but tim murray clearly wants him for the sabres and has talked about how free agents will want to play with jack?

jack is tall and loud. brandon is small and loud. they billeted together while they were at the ntdp, and played together at boston university last year. wouldn't it be cute if they kissed? i think it would be cute if they kissed. or sex bets or terrible games of chicken! something to do with that time brandon dressed up as a ladybug (but maybe like ... not set at that point since they were Youths). secret virgins! they soulbond in high school and have to learn how to deal with that now that jack's in buffalo! breakup-makeup where they struggled during jack's first year in the nhl, or maybe in the future when they've been split up for a while but were ~high school sweethearts!
