Dar, Hungarian FM pledge stronger trade ties at UNGA

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly. The two leaders discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Hungary. They focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and higher education.

According to the Foreign Office, both ministers agreed to strengthen people-to-people ties and explore new areas of collaboration. They emphasized the importance of building long-term partnerships that benefit both nations economically and socially.

The meeting aimed to give Pakistan-Hungary relations a fresh dimension. Hungary expressed interest in supporting educational exchange and economic projects in Pakistan. Dar welcomed Hungary’s willingness to invest and partner with Pakistani institutions.

Ishaq Dar also held meetings with other key international figures during the UNGA. These included GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand. Regional peace, economic ties, and institutional cooperation were central to those talks.

These diplomatic efforts underline Pakistan’s focus on broadening international alliances. The government aims to attract more investment, expand educational links, and play a more active role in regional cooperation.
