Q: What is the D2A2 bus service?
A: D2A2 is an express commuter bus service connecting Detroit and Ann Arbor, MI. D2A2 is a service of the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan (RTA) and operated by Michigan Flyer.

Q: Who can use this service?
A: Everyone is welcome to use D2A2. The service is ADA-accessible. Riders are encouraged to book their trip in advance guaranteeing a seat for the selected trip.

Q: How do I purchase tickets?
A: Customers can make advance reservations through the D2A2 website or purchase walk-on tickets at the bus stops located in Detroit and Ann Arbor. If purchasing a walk-on ticket, please be aware that drivers only accept cash and credit card payments.

Q: Can children ride D2A2 without an adult?
A: Children traveling alone between the ages of 12-16 can travel by filling out Michigan Flyer’s unaccompanied minor form. An adult must be present at drop-off and pickup and show a valid ID at their destination. Read more about Michigan Flyer’s unaccompanied minors policy at michiganflyer.com/unaccompanied-minors.

Q: How is this service funded?
A: D2A2 is funded by grants awarded to the RTA by the Federal Transit Administration and the State of Michigan.

Q: What do the buses look like?
A: D2A2 buses are decaled with D2A2 on the side. However, when vehicle maintenance is needed, Indian Trails may replace the D2A2 decaled bus with an Indian Trails decaled bus with D2A2 signage posted.

Q: I lost an item. Who should I contact?
A: If you believe you lost an item or left something on board, call the Michigan Flyer office at (517)-333-0400. Michigan Flyer will attempt to contact the bus driver and find your missing item(s). Or, if more than a day has passed since your trip, call Michigan Flyer and they will check the lost and found area to see if your missing item(s) was turned in.

Q: When does the service operate?
A: D2A2 operates hourly from 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays with limited weekend schedules. The service offers 33 trips during the weekdays and an average of 8 trips on the weekends.

Q: How long will it take to get from one destination to another?
A: A one-way trip from downtown Detroit (Grand Circus Park) to downtown Ann Arbor, or downtown Ann Arbor to downtown Detroit, is designed to take approximately 60 minutes.

Q: Will the service be available for special events?
A: D2A2 will not run specifically for special events, though you can travel between Detroit and Ann Arbor during the operating time for any event. The service will not operate on national holidays.

Q: Where are the bus stops located?
A: The Ann Arbor bus stop is located on 5th Avenue at William Street. The Detroit bus stop is located at Grand Circus Park on Park Avenue and Bagley Street.

Q: Where can I park? How much is parking?
A: D2A2 does not provide parking. However, there are parking options in downtown Ann Arbor and Detroit.

Q: Can I take public transit to the bus stops?
A: Yes. In Ann Arbor, TheRide offers service to the D2A2 bus stop. In Detroit, the D2A2 bus stop is a short walk to transit services including DDOT, SMART, the Detroit People Mover and the RTA QLINE.

Q: How much does it cost to ride?
A: D2A2 costs $8 for a one-way trip. By booking your trip in advance (at least 15 minutes before boarding), a $2 discount will be applied to the base fare ($6 one-way). Additional discounts are available for qualifying seniors, students and disabled riders. If you’re purchasing walk-on tickets, card and cash payments are accepted. Please be aware that drivers cannot make change.

Q: Do I need a reservation or can I walk-on?
A: Riders are encouraged to book a reservation to save money and secure a seat on their preferred trip. However, D2A2 does welcome walk-on passengers. Drivers can accept credit card and cash, but cannot make change.

Q: Can I make a reservation from a mobile device?
A: Yes, reservations and payments can be made from your mobile device. 

Q: Can I change my ticket if I miss my bus?
A: Schedule changes need to be made up to 20 minutes before departure time.

Q: How do I use my Frequent Rider pass book?
A: Frequent Rider pass books are available to customers and are ideal for those who commute along the route regularly. A book of 10 passes is available for $50 ($5 one-way) and a book of 50 passes is available for $100 ($2 one-way). However, Frequent Rider pass book holders are not guaranteed a seat on the bus. Please book a ticket online in advance to reserve your seat.

Q: What amenities do the vehicles have?
A: Deluxe pleather seating with armrests and footrests, individual lighting and climate controls, restrooms, Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, cupholders, overhead storage bins, and storage underneath for bicycles.

Q: Can I bring a bike on D2A2?
A: Bicycles can be stored underneath for commuters who use their bikes to get to/from first mile/last mile locations. The bus can fit approximately five bikes underneath the motorcoach based on space availability.

Q: Are the buses wheelchair accessible?
A: Yes. When making a reservation, a wheelchair lift has to be requested by clicking on the “wheelchair lift needed” selection.  The buses can accommodate two wheelchairs.

Q: Does D2A2 have paratransit services?
A: Paratransit service are not currently required as part of the D2A2 service. Riders who need paratransit services to or from the D2A2 bus stops can contact MyRide2 for help.

Q: Are pets or service animals allowed on D2A2?
A: Pets are not allowed on D2A2. However, we welcome service animals on board for customers with disabilities. Service animals may ride in the passenger compartment of the bus at no additional charge.
