I actually don't watch this show but I know it has its passionate and devoted fans. NBC dumped it and then TNT gave it a second chance and picked up the remaining episodes. But the ratings were decidedly underwhelming on TNT and all the ratings pundits thought it would be a goner. But instead TNT just gave it a third season.
So if you have a favourite show that gets lousy ratings and seems headed towards cancellation - don't lose hope - sometimes there are surprise renewals. This happens more on cable than network tv, but still....
