About

Hi There!

I'm an InfoSec engineer that have a strong interest in traditional (non-AI) information processing. I'm a commentator to various standard developing groups such as the Austin Group for the POSIX standard, NIST forum for some of the cryptography standards (implementation aspects mostly), and occasional lurker at IEEE, IETF, to name a few. (Some of my suggestions are even adopted!)

Spare-time photographer/videographer and musician.

I value competence, am a keen learner, and avid proponent of (what I consider) good practice. I tolerate unknowing foolishness but never arrogant ignorance.

If you believe you have good reason to contact me, you may search my name "DannyNiu/NJF" online and look for my Email address.

Although the Kerckhoff's 2nd principle is widely embraced and accepted, people often forget about themselves - the human factor. Which is why I've found renewed interest in his 6th principle:

... the system must be easy to use and should not be stressful to use or require its users to know and comply with a long list of rules.

And truth to be told, this doesn't just apply to cryptosystems, but to information security and in fact to technology and everyday life in general.
