Symbolic Interactionism HELP (please?)

First time poster to this community.

I am currently a Senior at Christopher Newport University majoring in (duh) Communication.

For my Comm Theory class, I have to give a 20 minute presentation, this Friday, about John Dewey and how he relates to Symbolic Interactionism.

What I do know is that the pragmatic philosophy of John Dewey pre-dates the discipline of Symbolic Interactionsim, but he had partially influenced it. I know that Dewey had a lot to do with the Progressive Education movement. I'm having a hard time getting a grasp on Dewey's theories, but I totally get Symbolic Interactionsim (except the I-Me part... that trips me up a bit).

I've been pouring over Dewey's writings and other articles about him and pragmatism... but I'm having a real hard time putting it all together.

Can anyone here maybe hand me a clue or two? Right now I have NO idea how I'm going to fill 20 minutes on this guy. ::sigh::

Help me Communication Community, you're my only hope!
