Java 3D books from 1998-2005 still useful?

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hello,

I've been searching around Amazon for books on Java's 3D API. Most seem to be from early 2000's, are they sill relevant or will it be a headache?

Thanks.

They might still be useful introductions to the Java3D versions most used (which is probably 1.5.x, the last release of which by Sun happened in 2008). Since then, Java3D has been developed by the community, and it's now at 1.7.0.

But Java3D is sort of outdated, and I doubt there will ever be updated books. If you're starting out with Java 3D programming, I advise either to use JOGL (Java's binding for OpenGL) or JavaFX (which has 3D capabilities baked in).
