I mean- I liked TSUBASA when it was all cute, happy adventure fun! I go to randomly catch up on TRC when I'm in need of a good pick me up because it's all with the nice art and the adorable characters! Fai-mommy and Kuro-daddy and Syaoran in pigtails and...
BUT NOW ALL IS PAIN. THE TRUTH ABOUT SYAORAN IS PAIN. SAKURA'S RANDOM CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS PAIN. FAI AND KUROGANE'S RELATIONSHIP IS MADE OUT OF THE PUREST SORT OF PAIN THAT WAS EVER PAINFUL. I'M SURE EVEN MOKONA IS MADE OUT OF ANGST BY NOW. :( :( :( :(
And not just, like, standard CLAMP angst. Like, ABOVE AND BEYOND THE LEVEL OF X/1999 ANGST. WITH BLOOD AND EYE-GOUGING AND ACID RAIN and, uh, Kamui and Fuuma! dskjshdfkjhskjdfhsa

Yeah. Ranting in order:
1. THE THING WITH SYAORAN WAS KIND OF PREDICTABLE, but I love the fact that this arc ended with the group losing "their" Syaoran and getting stuck with the real one. Which is an awkward situation
2. ALSO, FAI! *flail* The man really needs to get his shit together. Like, a lot. :P As much as the secrecy of it is fun, I'd really like to know his backstory sometime soon. From what I gathered: he was kept in a prison when he was young?, Lord Ashura came to rescue him and taught him how to be an OMGSUPARSPESHUL magician. Fai fell in love?? with Ashura and it was messy. Shit happened and Fai had to flee the country (HIGH TREASON!?) It makes me wonder whether Ashura trained him specifically to be a "weapon of mass destruction" OR SOMETHING EQUALLY RUTHLESS AND TRAGIC. Either way, it's all terribly depressing. Fai seemed to have lived his life being something of a possession to the person his world revolved around. I GUESS WE'LL KNOW FOR SURE WHEN LORD ASHURA FINALLY WAKES UP! :D
3. FAI!!!! *flail* AGAIN!!!! I love how back in Vol. 6 Fai told Kurogane in the bar that he wanted someone to "rescue him" and "stand by him" and "carry him through life" or something to that effect (REALLY, I'VE READ, LIKE FOUR TRANSLATIONS OF THAT SCENE AND NONE OF THEM SAID THE SAME THING) and in the recent chapters, Kurogane did just that. Not only did he save Fai's life, he's also taken all responsibility for said life into his own hands and Fai's just like: "ZOMG, WRRRY KUROGRANE. I HATE YOU. :( :( :("
OH, KUROGANE. YOU'RE SUCH A ROMANTIC. ♥
Well, actually it was more like: "Wow, I think I'm a little bit in love with Kurogane. I SHOULD STOP THAT, WHAT WITH HOW AWESOMELY MY LAST RELATIONSHIP WENT. :D"
But then again, Kurogane did bitch at him about how he should make his own decisions and then totally took away his power to make decisions about his own life.
4. Kurogane is awesome. He is awesome in every sense of the word, all the time. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
5. Sakura is also awesome. I love how her and Syaoran's positions have been completely reversed. XD AND I LOVE HOW SHE'S PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE TO GIVE UP MORE OF HER MEMORIES FROM HERE ON IN. Something tells me that she'll finish this journey as a completely different person anyways that when she DOES get her memories back, she'll have a difficult time relating to them.
6. CLONE!SYAORAN. ATE. FAI'S EYE. :P I mean, CLAMP totally has a "thing" about people losing eyes in the name of angst anyways, but HIS FUCKING EYE WAS EATEN. And Yuuko was all like: "Well, if you ever manage to get Fai's eye back he doesn't have to be a vampire anymore! :D" BUT FAI'S EYE IS DISSOLVING IN CLONE!SYAORAN'S STOMACH ACIDS. THERE IS NO GETTING THAT EYE BACK.
Well, unless of course they gouge clone!Syaoran's eye out and... I dunno, do something with it. Considering consuming Fai's eye apparently... made Syaoran's eye into... his eye. CLAMP SCIENCE, LULZ.
7. Is it so wrong that I had some seriously audible fangirling squees when they spelt out the whole vampire/hunter subplot? EVEN IN CROSS-DIMENSIONAL CONTINUITY SUBARU AND SEIISHIRO ARE STILL IN TOTALLY SICK, WRONG PEDO!LOVE (although since Subaru's a vampire, does that make him the Pedophile this time around? XDDD)
TRC's Kamui is also made of awesome. I like him much better than X/canon!Kamui (even though he's basically just X!Kamui from the first five volumes or so).

- but actually, I think this recent arc finally sold me on TSUBASA. I've been reading it since the very first scanlations were posted on the internet years ago, but I've never really been like: "OMGWTF AWESOME! AHHH! ARRGH! YAAAY!" about the series before. Mostly because some of the arcs dragged on too long and I was more anxious about CLAMP y'know, finishing X/1999 (WHICH I STARTED READING SEVEN YEARS AGO, WTF T___T). Actually, I was more or less reading it solely for Fai and Kurogane for awhile because those two are made of nineteen kinds of awesome (individually and together). The arc about Ashura and Yasha was the first multi-volume arc that really made me sparkle (besides the first few chapters ♥), but WOW. YEAH. Totally sold.
Also: Hey, look! It's Fuuma groping Kamui! This feels like home! :D Srsly- put those two within a hundred foot radius of each other and, voila! Groping! Oh, CLAMP, what would you do without your gay!?
AND UH, I'M TOTALLY DONE NOW. YAY. In other news, I updated
