I have close to 110 avatars, so I just randomly picked 20 I wanted to explain. Most of them ones I felt probably NEED explaining. :P
Back in grade 12, my friend Ashley (drummer_food) and I did a project for our Film and Video class that was basically a parody of anime. It featured us and a few of our friends dressed like Naruto-style ninjas. We dubbed our voices over with random anime clips (the girls were all the same character from Mahoromatic I don't know, someone on my flist gave me the voice clips sped up or slowed down depending on the person. Adam was VASH THE STAMPEDE. We then added some melodramatic subtitles and DDR music and..... no one in our class got the joke. But still, it was beautiful. In celebration, I made both Ashley and I avatars based on our ninja personas. We both still use those avatars and I cannot possibly get rid of mine. ^__^
A picture of Julidan (my favorite character ever XD) drawn for me by my roomate, Dawn (kaiousei). I can probably never get rid of this avatar for a few reasons. 1: it's a really nice picture, 2: sentimental reasons. Ryuuguu and her story, 'Those Without Shadows' were the first things we bonded over. YAY FOR AMATUER WRITERS?
I just like the "tee hee"ness to this avatar. And... it's really cute. And I get into a lot of situations where it's appropiate, even though like, three people in the Universe know who those characters are. :P

The story behind this is, once upon a time before Ryuuguu was a book and it was just a lowly text RPG with very few members, Rebecca pointed out that for prolific slash fangirls, we had a pointed lack of gay characters within the context of Ryuuguu. So she decided that Julidan should be gay. Leslie was all like: "Julidan is my character, so just because you all say so Julidan will not be gay. Or have any romance whatsoever. He'll be asexual. So there." And then she started writing him against my character, Omoidasu, who is eighteen shades of DRIPPING SEXUALITY and kind of happens to be Julidan's best friend (and a bisexual crossdressing nymphomaniac ha ha ha). Julidan and Omoidasu had all this hilarious unintentional UST (ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING OMOIDASU WAS SLEEPING WITH JULIDAN'S SISTER) that we used to joke about alot until we sat down and started seriously writing the story as novels. And then we realized that Julidan and Omoidasu were terribly in love with each other. At which point Leslie contended, okay yeah. Maybe Julidan IS a little gay- but only because he's so emotionally dense he'd be unable to have a romantic relationship with anyone who ISN'T Omoidasu. And even then, they're relationship doesn't really go anywheres much to the frustration of pretty much everyone we've explained the last arc of Ryuuguu to (but c'mon, we've been inventing colorful, psychological reasons to keep them apart for nearly five years now- resolution to the romantic tension would just ruin the beauty of it!) But yeah, Omoidasu has a good track record of turning characters gay because he's awesome like that.
Otacon's a geeky, anime nerd. Snake's a hardened soldier. Together, they areBFF Philantrophy, anti-Metal Gear terrorist Organization! This is my "OMGWTF" avatar. Also, it's Metal Gear Solid.
Fox Mulder in a crappy attempt at re-assuring a cancer-afflicted (and very confused) Scully. I use this avatar both sincerely and mockingly and despite the fact that it's kind of crappy picture quality, it's one of my favorites. ^__^
... yeah, that's an actual line from the dub. :P I made this for my friend Leslie, but found that it was too good NOT to use myself.
I was thinking logistically how a threesome between Team 7 would actually go. It would actually go something like this. A lot of people really like this avatar apparently, as I see it ALL over lj Naruto communities and I don't think I've ever actually posted it on

I love the old Sonic cartoon and spent a good decade of my life collecting the Archie comic book series. ♥ Believe it or not, Antoine is one of my favorite characters, even if he is a bit of an emokid (although not as much of an emokid as Knuckles of Elias, but neither of them ever made it into the cartoon). I caved and decided I needed an "emokid" avatar.
That has got to be one of my favorite Cartman lines ever. XD
... okay, I really have no excuse for this one. I was browsing Super Dickery and came across this cover in the 'Seduction of the Innocent' section and... well. I added the text of course, but really. They HAD to know what they were drawing. They just *had* to.
This is from, maybe, the fourth issue of Batman. The image of little Dick Grayson carrying Batman triumphantly over his shoulders was too darling NOT to make an icon out of.
Made byjemppu. The joke here is that Jason Todd was killed by a reader-determined 1-900 phone poll. Also, Dick might have been a little resentful of Jason. As much as the writers tried to make him appear PERFECTLY OKAY with Jason, deep inside we know he wasn't. Okay, well maybe he was, but he still didn't go to the funeral because he was in space. But still. Bruce was really pissed off.
Frank Miller's 'All Star Batman and Robin' is really, horrendeously terrible and contains the line: "Are you dense? Are you retarded? I'm the GODDAMN BATMAN!" Which I just though would be a much better line coming from Watchmen's Rorscharch. And yes, he's breaking a glass in that guy's hand. Because Rorscharch is a smelly, socially inept, bad ass.

Red Mage is my favorite character from 8-Bit Theater (which is the only web comic I've ever been able to follow in any capacity). Mostly because he says things like this *points up* and... yeah. I could totally imagine myself saying that. Sadly enough. Ahahaha.
Dr. Odine said this to someone (Laguna, I believe?) in Final Fantasy VIII. For reasons I can't define, it's always been one of my favorite lines from a Final Fantasy game (it's right up there with Cid's 'LOVELESS' speech).
This is a scene from Silent Hill 2's UFO ending, in which it is revealed that Harry (SH1's protagionist) is working WITH the aliens :O!!! Oh, just watch it!

This is probably one of the most simple avatars I've ever made, but I love it to pieces. It's just a nice side-profile of Wolfwood from the Trigun manga with the opening line from Townes Van Zandt's song 'Highway Kind'. WHICH, BY THE WAY, IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL SONG.
ALSO, I've been reading what translations of 'Perfect Works' I can find and, lo and behold found the answer to one of the biggest Xeno-related questions I had after finishing Xenosaga III! Which character each Anima Relic aligns to! *INSERT UNBERABLE GEEKERY HERE* The ones in Xenosaga are self evident as the gears are actually NAMED after the relics, however I had to do a bit of digging to find their Xenogears counterparts:
Dan: Voyager // El Andvari (Roni Fatima, later Bart)
Joseph: Hermann // El Renmazuo (Billy)
Gad: Richard // El Stier (Rico)
Asher: Jr. (and chaos) // El Fenrir (Citan)
Zebulun: Ziggy (and MOMO) // Vendetta (Ramsus LAWL)
Judah: Kevin // Amphysvena (Krelian)
Dinah: Shion (and KOS-MOS) // El Regris (Sophia/Elly)
Reuben: Jin // ????
Simeon: Albedo // ????
Levi: Margulis // ????
Issacher: Pellegri // ????
Naphtali: Virgil // Alpha Weltall (Lacan/Grahf, so by extention Fei although Weltall/Xenogears does not have an Anima Relic)
The only leftover Omnigears are Miang's 'Opiomorph' and the 'El' versions of Seibzehn (Maria) and Crescens (Emeralda), which never made it into the game (although there are designs for both in Perfect Works). Perfect Works notes that the last four alligned to unknown Ministry members during the Shevat/Solaris war, although one of those is definitely Miang. I COULDN'T TELL YOU WHICH ONE, HOWEVER. I have no idea where the last one was supposed to go. Emperor Cain, perhaps? *shrug*
The relics didn't match up in any way that makes sense to me, which is kind of disappointing (although I do admit the connection between Asher and Citan is clear after the ending of XSIII). And Shion/KOS-MOS's Anima relic going to Elly is kind of obvious. Also, I can make a vague connection between Kevin and Krelian because I'mthorough obsessive geeky, and their motivations are actually rather similar.
