BROKEBACK TARTARUS.

Fifth block of Tartarus: if Tartarus is supposed to represent human subconscious, why is the fifth level of my psyche a disco studio? I've been past it for a while, but floor 244 boss is making me nostalgic for when everything was multi-colored and really easy.
SO, NEWSFLASH GUYS. Looks like I may actually have to do some fucking schoolwork this semester. The full reality of inexplicably having six courses this term has finally set in. Aside from having dinky little 1500-3000 word term papers due in November, I'm also going to have the assload portfolio from creative writing along with, ha ha, my 20+ page paper for Advanced Evil (third year seminar course, why would I do that!?).
... NO, GUYS, THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME. SERIOUSLY. :D :D :D
I'm especially excited about my Evil paper considering I settled on a topic (it's a completely self-constructed thesis *dance*). Since Todd and I's seminar topic is going to be: "Evil in Video Games and the ESRB rating system" (he wanted to talk about Night Trap *EYEROLL*), I decided to save the meta-tastic bit about the actual games for my essay.
I'm writing my paper on the "evil God" phenomenon in RPGs BECAUSE, C'MON GUYS, NAME ME AN RPG WHERE YOU *DON'T* KILL GOD. Except I also suspect I'll get into this whole complicated diatribe about the Western epitaph "God is dead, we killed him" seen as an inherently "evil" thing, whereas the RPG trope is about the purity of the human spirit, freedom, ponies, ect. ect. (re: Lunar, "GOD *WANTED* US TO KILL HER. DUUUUH."). So far, I think I'll examine: Xenogears, FFX/T, Lunar, Shin Megami Tensei and Silent Hill 1+3 (okay, okay, not an RPG- so what?). I have no clue what my precise thesis is going to be yet, but man- it's going to be wicked.
It's so cool having a teacher who's all: "EVERY UNIVERSITY STUDENT IN THE WORLD WRITES ABOUT DANTE. GIVE ME AN ESSAY ABOUT BABYLON 5, FOLKS." I ♥ the Cultural Studies department. XDD
