My Forehead is Starting to Heal. It Doesn't Look Better Yet.

Recently I've written about seeking treatment for actinic keratosis, a skin condition I have on my forehead. It's a possible precursor to cancer! I started seeing a specialist about it a few months ago. She blasted me with a cold ray a few times before deciding that attacking the sores on my skin onesie-twosie wasn't getting the job done. Next was smearing poison on my forehead for two weeks. By "poison" I mean a chemotherapy cream, which— yes— is literally designed to kill cells. But the idea is it kills abnormal cells faster than normal ones.

Well, I finished the two week treatment of contact poison Monday morning. Now I'm into the healing phase. How's it going?  A few days in I've got to say it looks no better yet than the last day of poison. In fact it's slightly worse.

Skin on my forehead starting to heal, 2 days post-treatment (Jun 2026)

This is from Wednesday morning. It looks worse than when I applied the last dose of treatment Monday morning. Now the skin is starting to scab over. It feels dry and crusty in parts. When I move my eyebrows I can feel that the skin on my forehead doesn't move like normal right now.

Basically, a lot of skin cells have been killed or are dying. They're coming off soon. I'll spare you further description of what that entails. Just rest assured, as I reassure myself every day, that I am doing this at a specialist doctor's prescription and the gruesome look for now is as expected. How long will this phase last? I'm not sure. Maybe if it's not starting to look better in the few days I'll ask to see the doctor again for an urgent appointment.
