Explosive Tip

The Explosive Tip is an ammo type for the Crossbow in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: WWII, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. It also appears as the only form of ammo for it in the other games that feature the Crossbow (excluding the Black Ops Cold War version, which only fires standard bolts).

In singleplayer, it is used interchangeably with normal bolts, but in multiplayer, it is the only form of ammo available for the Crossbow.

It does 50 damage impact and has a 1.5 second fuse but doesn't start until it hits an object. It does 200-75 damage with a four meter blast radius.

If a player is hit by an explosive bolt, an indicator on the screen saying, "Stuck!" will appear, and the bolt will explode after 1.5 seconds, killing the player. However, in splitscreen, the screen just starts blinking red.

If the Explosive Tip is shot into a wall or other object, player will get a warning on-screen similar to the Grenade danger indicator, showing the rough direction of the ensuing explosion.

It is also possible to kill a player by simply hitting them with the bolt, if their health is low enough.

Zombies

The Explosive Tip is available for the Crossbow in Zombies regularly. It does about the same amount of damage to a zombie as it does to a player online. When Pack-A-Punched, its arrows will act similarly to Monkey Bombs, although they don't have quite as long a timer as Monkey Bombs do.

Trivia

Call of Duty: Black Ops

  • The world model for the actual bolt once launched is not the same model as the Explosive Bolt. Rather, it is a normal crossbow bolt with a red/green light on it depending on who fired it. The green light is friendly and the red light is hostile.
