Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have selected Trillium Rail Partners to deliver the Stations, Rail and Systems (SRS) package for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE). The team has signed a Development and Master Construction Agreement with Metrolinx. The Trillium Rail Partners team includes: Amico Affiliates Major Projects Inc. Alberici Constructors, Ltd. ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc., and WSP in Canada Canada Inc. The Development and Master Construction Agreement (DMCA) marks the start of a development phase, part of a progressive design-build procurement model. The DMCA enables Trillium Rail Partners to begin construction of early works and for them to collaborate with Metrolinx to further develop the design scope, risk allocation and pricing of various elements as part of the development phase. Alberici Canada, as part of Trillium Rail Partners with Amico Affiliates, ACCIONA and WSP in Canada, has been awarded the Stations, Rail and Systems contract for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension by Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx This transformative project will extend Line 5 Eglinton 9.2 kilometres west from Mount Dennis to Renforth, adding seven new stations and critical rail infrastructure to better connect communities, ease congestion, and support growth across the region. A 300km/h Future: The Roadmap for Canada’s High-Speed Rail is Becoming Clearer 🚄 The High-Speed Rail dream in the Toronto-Quebec City corridor just took a major step forward. Martin Imbleau, CEO of Alto, recently shared critical updates on the project’s timeline and vision. We are no longer just talking about High Frequency—we are looking at a dedicated electric network capable of speeds up to 300 km/h. The Timeline: * 2029/2030: Shovels in the ground for the test case segment between Montreal and Ottawa. * 2032: Construction begins on the eastern and western legs (Toronto-Ottawa and Montreal-Quebec City). * The Result: Toronto to Montreal in just 3 hours, and Montreal to Ottawa in under an hour. With up to 72 trains per day and a mandate to bring stations into the heart of our downtown cores (Union Station and Central Station) —it’s a total reimagining of how we connect Canada’s most densely populated region. As Imbleau noted, the biggest hurdle isn't just engineering; it’s conviction. Staying laser-focused on that first segment is key to proving the model and building the momentum needed for the full $60B–$90B corridor. Public consultations kick off later this month. A transformative transit project is underway in Canada. We're proud to be part of it.  As members of the Trillium Rail Partners consortium, we’ve joined forces with Hawkins\Brown and Architecture49 Inc. to deliver the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) in Etobicoke and Mississauga. The project calls for seven new stations stretching from Mount Dennis to Renforth Drive, with potential additional facilities near the airport.  The extension will connect five major transit services—Metrolinx UP Express, Kitchener GO Train, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), MiWay, and GO Transit buses—improving regional mobility and giving people faster, easier ways to travel across the city. What this means in numbers:  • Up to 69,700 daily riders will use the extension.   • 37,500 more residents will gain direct access to transit.   • 23,600 additional jobs will be within reach by transit.  “We’re excited to have the opportunity to bring our Canadian transit team together to launch another transformational project,” says Jeff Doble, our Director of Transportation Design. “Collaborating with partners, connecting with communities, and delivering extraordinary transit experiences is what drives our team!”   Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gUqKuTza

Milestone: RFQ Released for YNSE Stations, Rail & Systems Contract A major step forward for the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE) — Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have released the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Stations, Rail & Systems package, one of the largest Alliance contracts in North America. This procurement marks a new phase in how we deliver complex infrastructure — through collaboration, shared accountability, and a culture of safety and excellence that reflects the YNSE C.A.R.E.S. values. This Alliance will bring owners, designers, and contractors together under a single integrated team — aligning goals, sharing risks and rewards, and driving innovation to deliver the project safely, efficiently, and with lasting value for the communities we serve. The contract will deliver five new stations (three underground, two surface), rail and systems, and key supporting infrastructure. Together, these works will extend Line 1 north into York Region, creating a more connected and resilient transit network for generations to come. I'm proud to be part of the YNSE Leadership Team and to help guide this next phase — building not just transit, but trust, teamwork, and lasting impact.

Great to see large-scale rail infrastructure projects gaining momentum across the GTA and the Toronto–Quebec corridor. 🚆🇨🇦 This is a rare opportunity to truly reshape mobility, productivity, and long-term urban planning in Canada. I’m particularly curious about two critical aspects of delivering a project of this magnitude: 1️⃣ Realistic execution timelines — when factoring in permitting, land acquisition, complex urban interfaces, and a corridor stretching hundreds of kilometers, what will be a sustainable pace of construction segment by segment? 2️⃣ Availability of specialized workforce — even today, in the Greater Toronto Area alone, we are already seeing shortages of experienced professionals in track, rail systems, and linear infrastructure works. On a corridor that is easily 10x or even 100x larger in scale, attracting, training, and retaining this workforce may prove to be as challenging as the engineering itself. Projects of this scale rarely fail due to lack of technology — they fail due to execution capacity, workforce planning, and long-term political continuity. It will be interesting to see how Canada addresses these challenges to turn vision into delivery.
