A happy (and spooky) 10th anniversary to the only Letterboxd challenge I regularly participate in: Hooptober. It's actually only year 6 for me personally but it's become something I anticipate every year and has become crucial in how I organize my Halloween seasonal viewing. Though my movie watching on the whole has not dipped, I've been so busy with various things for the past year that I've noticed I'm writing way fewer Letterrboxd reviews for what I log than I used to. So it'll be nice to have a challenge that forces me to get my thoughts down and of course I look forward to reading what the other participants write as well.

A happy (and spooky) 10th anniversary to the only Letterboxd challenge I regularly participate in: Hooptober. It's actually only year 6 for me personally but it's become something I anticipate every year and has become crucial in how I organize my Halloween seasonal viewing. Though my movie watching on the whole has not dipped, I've been so busy with various things for the past year that I've noticed I'm writing way fewer Letterrboxd reviews for what I log than I used to. So it'll be nice to have a challenge that forces me to get my thoughts down and of course I look forward to reading what the other participants write as well.
I noticed, partially because of the rules, that my list has ended up focusing on darker and bleaker horrors (thus this year's subtitle). I've also been playing the Lovecraftian horror fishing video game Dredge recently (I strongly recommend it) and that may have played a role as well so don't be surprised if a couple more horror DCOMs squeeze their way in to balance it all out by the end of the challenge. I’m also going to try to do something I did a bit last year where I precede my viewing of horror features with horror-related shorts, ranging from old ones to funny ones to modern internet ones. If anyone has any suggestions for those, feel free to mention them in the comments!

While I originally planned to do the extra credit titles, unfortunately it looks due to timing I won’t be able to. I was able to satisfy all rules with 24 titles, so 7 are free spots. List is subject to change (while still meeting all the requirements).
Also, I’m going to try a new thing where I watch a horror short before most features. Don’t want to crowd the actual list so I’ll just be putting them below:
