My first attempt at Cinemonster's annual Hooptober challenge!
My chances of making it through to the finish line seem slim to hopeless, but compiling the list was fun! I liked the idea of watching all new stuff, but I've also got some themed double-feature nights built into the (very loose) schedule, which has led me to go with three re-watches - two of those previous viewings were twenty or more years ago, so they'll be fresh, and the fourth I absolutely must subject a loved one to, and I'm sure they'll be immensely grateful to me as a result.
Substitutions/updates are listed at the bottom.
The Rules (and how I'm meeting each one):

The Rules (and how I'm meeting each one):
There must be 31 films
6 countries (US, UK, Canada, Italy, Sweden, Germany - there's also "co-production" nods to Austria, Spain, France and Greece in there)
8 decades (20s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, 20s)
2 insect centered films (Them!; The House (segment II))
1 horror film set in space or the future (Crimes of the Future)
2 animated films (The House; Wendell & Wild)
1 bloodthirsty old person/people film (The Visit, spoiler, spoiler, spoiler)
2 1970s regional US films (Alice, Sweet Alice; Deathdream)
The worst horror sequel from the 1990s that you haven't seen and can access. (I realize that this will take a little work) (Sleepaway Camp IV)
1 German Silent (The Hands of Orlac)
5 Films from David Cronenberg, Ti West, Bill Rebane, Charles B. Pierce, William Grefe and/or Joy N. Houck Jr. (All Cronenberg for me - The Brood, Scanners, Videodrome, The Dead Zone, Crimes of the Future)
2 Christopher Lee films (Horror Express, Death Line - do I get bonus points for having two "Chris Lee train-themed horrors from 1972"?)
1 film with a musician or band in it (A real life musician or band) (The Bride (Sting), Videodrome (Debbie Harry), The House (Jarvis Cocker))
1 Stephen King adaptation that is not the first go around (Carrie (2013))
1 Lon Chaney film. (NOT Jr.) (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
And 1 Tobe Hooper Film (There must ALWAYS be a Hooper film) (Eaten Alive)

List Edits:
25th October: Substituted Crimes of the Future for eXistenZ
27th October: Substituted Carrie (2013) for Christine - I had originally intended to elide the intent of Cinemonster's Stephen King rule (i.e. cheat) and watch Christine, but my other half, upon discovering my brazen flouting of the word of law, insisted I would find the entire exercise far more satisfying if I stuck to both the word and intent of the rules. And so I watched the 2013 version of Carrie instead. Yep, that made me feel sooo much better...
28th October: Substituted Nope for Phase IV
29th October: Substituted The Black Phone for The Fly (1958)
And big thanks to Cinemonster!
