2025
end of month comments:
i do wish i had gotten to more than 16 but it's been a weird year for me. prior to hooptober i had only logged 32 movies (including a handful of docuseries that happen to be on letterboxd). so to add 16 in a month and a half is a great accomplishment!
i'm currently living with my mom, who does not do horror, so i was mostly trying to slot in movies when she wasn't around. ironically she does find The Wizard of Oz terrifying because she watched it far too young, so she wouldn't have wanted to watch that together either.

i wish i had gotten more variety in my countries because i like to use hooptober to divsersify my watching and to get to things i might not have thought to watch otherwise. this year i'd like to shout out Burn Witch Burn and We Might Hurt Each other -- both solid movies that i would probably not have watched if i wasn't trying to hit prompts. i learned how to crochet recently so i was struggling to watch anything that required subtitles because i wanted to spend all my movie time crocheting.
i had fun regardless, and i'm really happy this challenge exists! every year i get to discover new horror movies and follow new people. thank you to cinemonster for keeping the challenge going. it is very much appreciated!

last year was my first hooptober and i am so excited for this year! for hooptober 11, i hit 23/31 films which is better than i expected! going to take it easy this year because i've got a lot going on. just keep the pressure off myself and have fun, hopefully!
i tried to add notes for the categories each movie hits. feel free to let me know if anything is incorrect or if i'm missing anything! :)
inspired by Sam to look for more female directors and to track them on my list. i had 0 to start with -- eek! eta: also tracking nonbinary directors!
total movies watched that were not directed by a man: 2
