The horror genre is what really got me invested in cinema at a young age- starting with SyFy channel B-movies into discovering the old classics, moving on to the contemporary revival of horror and finally making my way into finding obscure gems that I never could’ve thought existed. I love horror more than I can put into words, never has there been a genre that can encompass so many themes and so much emotion under the guise of pure evil on the screen.

This list encapsulates (almost) every horror film that I love & has some importance to me, I’m only including films that I myself classify as horror, even if the film isn’t tagged as a horror film on Letterboxd and I’m even excluding some that are, yet I don’t quite feel truly fit into the genre.

I also encourage recommendations if you think there’s a film I’d like that’s not on the list! Especially more rare and obscure gems that I probably haven’t heard of.
