***************
More than just one of my all-time favorite HORROR movies, this one is one of my all-time favorite movies, period.
One of John Carpenter's very best directing efforts. There is never a dull moment or a non-suspenseful scene. It's a MASTERPIECE of storytelling, claustrophobic horror, suspense, gory and unique monster effects and a wonderful lead performance by our boy Kurt Russell.
This is basically a remake/re-imagining of the 1951 black and white classic "The Thing from Another World"... but with a TON more story and twists and turns. Plus it contains a wonderful ensemble all-male cast which is quite unusual as well.
This is a great example of wonderful pacing and an excellent script all carefully crafted by Carpenter and his crew. I've seen this movie a number of times and am always completely caught up in the paranoid horror and amazing practical effects.
A truly ESSENTIAL HORROR FILM that is not to be missed.
