Slowburn mystery and character study that ultimately has a pretty strong payoff. The ending is kinda worth it... mostly.
I think that Polanski is not that great of an actor, so he's the weak link - acting-wise. But he's assembled a solid supporting cast and has a great cinematographer in Sven Nykvist. The film has some great shots and is visually impactful throughout.
If you can get over the glacial pace and Polanski's sub-par acting... then this is a great little psychological horror flick for ya.
