”Texarkana looked normal during the daylight hours. But everyone dreaded sundown.”

More or less exactly what I kind of expected this film to be. Given my absolute hatred for Charles B. Pierce’s first film The Legend of Boggy Creek I was really nervous on how much I would either dislike or hate this film and maybe that really low interest is what differed me from enjoying this, but I really couldn’t get into it. I think the similarities between this and Zodiac are fairly competent, but what this lacks so the tension that made that so interesting. There isn’t really any sliver of when the killer will strike next and isn’t any real hostile environment that makes the film up. It doesn’t allow for the presence of the killer to be felt from the audience. Maybe I just missed a whole chunk of the movie, but I felt bored through the runtime. Although I didn’t totally hate the film, The Town That Dreaded Sundown definitely didn’t improve my opinion on Pierce as a director.
