Plot Arc

As our resident white hats, deal with the aftermath of the ritual, many not realizing the full extent of what has happened, the Guardian has been acclimating herself to the new time and space of her surroundings, playing with her increasing power testing it’s limits. Finding an ancient text she casts her first spell, the second step in her diabolical plan. One thing she hadn’t counted on and still is unaware, are the Powers that Be and their hand in changing her death spell.
Everything good and evil is making merry for Christmas in the way that fits their character. (Note an evil character might be doing more evil.)
So begins our HoHoHo plot. The ending of the last plot arc occurs with the entry in the watcher’s diary. If you are in a plot thread, you may finish that thread in your own time, but the community will move forward with the new plot arc. The effects of the current arc (as with any) might still be felt by several of the characters, but that plot arc isn’t the current storyline. Feel free to refer back to that as necessary for your character’s storyline if it adds to characterization, I think you all know what I am talking about.
For this arc, you have four choices as how to react to it. For those of you who are the main characters in upcoming plots, and you know who you are, please remember to make your cryptic illusions to that arc, so when it is revealed, everyone will be able to tie the pieces together.
Your first choice, as always is not to participate, by that your character will not be affected at all. So your character will have to be out of England or if in England they would be incredibly intoxicated. The gang is beginning to celebrate the holidays, and will be sitting around watching; yes you guessed it Christmas movies. The two we’ve chosen are It’s a Wonderful Life,or A Christmas Carol.note You may watch any version of either of these two classics, or any other Christmas movie. So you can amend our plot by choosing for example, One Magic Christmas
While your character is watching the movie, you be watching with Buffy or Faith, or any group of you. When the arc begins you’ll know what they are watching, you may also plot among yourselves, because for this arc the only threading (unless you plot otherwise) would be while the movies are going on once everyone goes to sleep it will be a solo post. However, in your dream, you have the freedom to write for anyone active or inactive in Boca, as this is an Alternate Universe – that is the dream sequence is an AU.
For A Christmas Carol your character would be haunted by three characters, someone in their past, present and future. So for example, if it were Faith, it could be the Mayor, Buffy and Spike, or in writing I could chose to use Buffy as all three, as Buffy was in her past, is in her present and will be in her future. While our idea for It’s a Wonderful Life Faith would dream what the world would be like if she had never been born.
Now I also have some other choices as Faith’s writer, I could choose say The Santa Clause where Faith thought Santa was a vampire, and slayed him. If as the writer I choose to have her not watching a Christmas movie, she would be doing what she normally does, and that would be killing vamps, so I would as the writer have to put a negative spin on that in her dream.
The guardian’s goal is to bring them all to a point where they either die in their dreams, going with the if you die when you dream you die in real life, or they are moved to end their own lives. This should give each writer a great breath of emotion to write about. But remember, the Powers that Be have intervened, changing the spell so that instead the characters, even though you might chose that they hit bottom, also realize the good they do with their lives.
Feel free to work with someone else if you’d like them in on your dream, to post back to you, but our initial idea was that everyone have the opportunity to write as any character they need in the post. Once again using Faith as an example, if Buffy is the ghost of Christmas Past, as a writer, I can write as much dialogue for the two them as I choose, as it is an AU. So the rules for writing as someone else are, for this arc suspended.
Remember if your character is out of England, or intoxicated, or on any mind-altering drug, the spell will have no affect on that character(s).
As moderators, we hope this gives you the writers, some writing opportunities you haven’t had before, and to take your character(s) to all types of interesting places. Keep in mind; this would affect anything good or evil, so if you write as an evil character, you would still be affected.
We can’t give you a specific date as to when this arc will start, we will do our best to give you notice, but our vision, right now is between the 10 – 20 (more likely the 15th) of December to move along to the next plot arc. We realize that your character may not be at the emotional place you’d like by then, and that’s okay, it will just add a different dimension to the writing.
You may post your dream in on post, or continue over several posts, just in the subject line reference either the word dream or the title of the movie you are using.
This should give each of you enough time to think about what you’d like to do, formulate and ask any questions you need to ask. For us, we’ve discussed it so much; every detail makes sense to us.
Take an opportunity to join a group thread to begin your arc, which could be fun. For the group threads on this arc, if say EB, Faith, Spike, Giles, Willow and Kennedy were watching the same movie, if EB and Faith have a good banter going, they wouldn’t have to wait on everyone else to respond, you know how it is when you are watching a movie.
We also know this will be happening during the holidays when people are at their busiest, so the arc will unfold in the time frame it unfolds, we don’t expect it to be finished on the 25th.
